Protection of the rainforest
To protect the last indigenous rainforest of Malawi we have found a holistic approach, that is protecting the rainforest by several multilayered activities and projects.
1. Community Forest Patrol Teams, that are patrolling different parts of the forest everyday
2. Community Court, that has set up rules and functions as legal entity and law enforcement institution
3. Generating alternative sources of incomes through
a. Coffee
b. Tree Planting
c. Tourism
4. Youth involvement through scholarships and workshops
5. Fire Fighting Units, that are present at the main strategic points in the forest during fire season
6. Reducing the usage of firewood through subsidised wood efficient stoves
7. Implementing drinking water and irrigation projects for the surrounding communities. The water is coming from the rainforest
